Pre Wed Shoot Suffolk – Julianna & Greg

Juliana and Greg were great sports when we met up for their pre wed shoot in Suffolk. We were fortunate to have use of a private orchard. I can’t tell you how excited I was when we came across the piled up crates which involved climbing over a locked gate to get to. We did have permission to be there but Julianna didn’t have the key to hand. I was not to be deterred as I could see we could have some great fun using the crates, honestly, what I will do for my craft.

Julianna is a singer/songwriter and is used to being on stage in front of large crowds and was a natural in front of the camera. Greg was also very relaxed and went along with my ideas which all in all made for a fun shoot.

Pre Wed Shoot Cambridge – Jen & Jon

Finally the rain stopped and we could catch up a little on our pre wed shoots. We met up with Jen and Jon in Cambridge and had planned on a country theme but couldn’t get into the private garden containing an abundance of the most beautiful bluebells. We did however find some long grasses that had been left to grow a little on the wild side and made full use of them for some natural shots. Along the way we also came across a basement to some flats which had the most incredible light coming through. Anyone who knows us well or has been photographed by us will know how much we bang on about light quality, it really does make what could possibly be the most uninspiring backgrounds sing. The geometric shapes made for some unusual urban shots which we really liked a lot.

One Great George Street – Wedding Photography – Pascal & Clare

Clare and Pascal were married on Saturday at the amazing One Great George Street in Westminster. We were looking forward to photographing the lovely Clare and Pascal at this particular venue but at the same time were wondering if it may be a little stuffy as it is such a grand building. It turned out to be perfect and very friendly. We were asked by the couple for a mixture of both relaxed and a few more posed shots at the venue. The getting ready was extremely laid back and I had great fun with the girls. If you are a fan of Bridget Jones you absolutely must get married at One Great George Street. The scene from the Edge of Reason (Bridget Jones 2) of the lawyers annual dinner, the bit with the quiz, was filmed here. The staff were so very friendly and wonderfully efficient. As amazing as the venue was, it was the incredibly nice families and friends on both sides that made this wedding special. We really were made so welcome, we almost felt like we were one of the family.

Pascal and Clare treated their guests to some beautifully elegant English and French touches mixed in with fun. There was a string quartet playing throughout the afternoon which was a lovely touch. When the candles were lit for dinner and the lights dimmed it was breath taking. Mixed in with this was a fun photo booth by Picture Blast and two gorgeous cakes. The fun bit for us was also the walk about and all the lovely messages of good luck and congratulations shouted from all sides of the streets. After we returned, the staff dropped confetti from the rotunda above which was a lovely touch.

A very big thank you to Katie, Cecile, Stephanie and Helen for being top bridesmaids and incredibly helpful. Also thank you to Aoife, wedding co-ordinator extraordinaire at Great George Street.

Pascal and Clare we wish you the very best for the future. Can’t wait to show you all the shots but for now here are a few to be going on with. Safe journey back to France to all the family and friends.

Entertainment – Cambridgeshire Wedding Photography

When we meet up with our clients for the first time at the initial meet we often get chatting about how far they have got with their plans. It would seem that one decision couples struggle with is the evening entertainment. We have seen many bands and discos and here are two that for us really stood out. First of all Flood the Floor, we first saw them at James and Rachael’s Wedding and they were brilliant. Not only could they sing in tune (trust me they don’t always) they were fab at working with the guests and interacting down on the dance floor and of course they lived up to their name and did ’flood the floor’ all evening. If it is a disco you are after we really like the very popular Love Light guys. They are a photographers dream as they bring disco balls, smoke, and really fab lighting. They also always keep guests on the dance floor all evening. They are worth looking into but get in touch in advance as they both get very booked up. Here are a few photos of them in action ……………..

London Pre Wed – Pascal & Clare

Clare and Pascal are getting married next month at the very grand One Great George Street. We are very excited as it is a fabulous venue right in the centre of Westminster. We were given a guided tour on Sunday and we were not disappointed. Pascals family are coming over from France and Clare’s family are travelling from Surrey. I have a good feeling that this is going to be a wonderful day full of warmth if the family and friends are anything like Clare and Pascal. It will be lovely to see the two cultures coming together. They are definitely in for a treat.

We had a bit of a route arranged for the couple for their pre wed shoot but unfortunately we didn’t get as far as anticipated. It was very nice just wandering along in the spring sunshine listening to their plans. Pascal is one of the most organised Grooms we have met. He has even promised us a face recognition group shot plan for the day We did find some interesting backdrops on our walk which took us from Great George Street to the London Eye, not very far at all but several places to take shots and generally get Claire and Pascal relaxed in front of the camera before the big day. Gaynes Park Wedding

Last Friday I was looking forward to a rare Saturday off when I had a call in the morning from a photographer friend of mine Tori Deslauriers. She was photographing Jeremy and Nicola’s wedding the next day as a second shooter to the couples friend and chosen photographer Nick Dale. Unfortunately Nick had been rushed into hospital and Tori asked if I was prepared to give her a hand.

Jeremy had quickly sent Tori a few shots of what they liked and why they had chosen Nick, so, the next day I set off totally unexpected to Gaynes Park in Essex to see if I could be of some help to both Tori and the Bride and Groom. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a fab venue having never shot there before. I really liked Gaynes Park and was glad that despite the last minute news that their chosen photographer was ill they were very calm and looking forward to their wedding.

It was odd not photographing with Doug as we have our own way of doing things and also that I was second shooting.

Although I took a variety of shots, including a few of the poses that the couple came up with and agreed with Nick, I have decided to only blog the ones that represent my style. Don’t worry guys Tori and I have got some of your ideas in the bag.

Wedding Ideas – Hat Park

Today I want to bring you another creative wedding idea that I saw at James and Rachel’s Suffolk wedding. As it was held in a country barn, there were, as is quite often, no areas for hats and coats. Introducing “The Hat Park”, I thought this was a brilliant idea and very easy to make with ribbon, pegs and a curtain pole. By the end of the evening it was also a parking place for children’s toys, pashminas and other bits and bobs. Genius !

Cambridgeshire Wedding Photography – Tim & Leanne

Leanne and Tim were married in Godmanchester on Saturday and we were delighted to be asked to photograph their wedding day. The weather didn’t want to play ball, but despite the strong winds and rain everything went to plan and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day. This was a family wedding and it was so lovely to see the pride in the faces of Parents, Grandparents and of course Great Grandparents . We had already captured little Ruby’s Christening last year and it was lovely to see she was walking in time for the wedding and made the cutest flower girl ever. The getting ready was adorable as we all had to sing the ‘ wheels on the bus ‘ to distract her as Leanne clipped flowers into her hair.
Leanne looked stunning and I loved everything she had chosen. The very gorgeous Bridesmaids wore chocolate coloured dresses which were set off by cute little fur shrugs. Ruby wore the sweetest little dress and she also had a fur shrug. The plan was for Leanne to walk down the aisle with her Mum and Ruby but as soon as Ruby saw Tim waiting at the top of the aisle she was off running and waving much to the delight of the congregation. It turned out that Ruby was the wedding entertainer for much of the day and was still going strong on the dance floor into the evening in her PJ’ s.
