Jonathan & Sarah – London Wedding

Jonathan and Sarah’s Wedding on Friday was a Wedding Photographers delight, it was very relaxed but at the same time it was incredibly stylish. The theme for the day was fun family and friends. The bright Gerbera’s and balloons helped set the theme of fun and celebration. The seven bridesmaids and seven ushers were family and old friends, some from uni and even childhood. We started off at Sarah’s flat for some getting ready shots and then headed over to the Rough Luxe Hotel at Kings Cross for some shots of the boys.  It was then back to the flat where we all went by London bus to the Church.

After a very moving service it was over to The Breakfast Club for sangria and nibbles. The party spilled out onto the street and the fun really began. Next it was back on the bus and over to The Canonbury in Islington which was also amazing. The guests were treated to more nibbles and drinks and the party continued in the garden. After a fab three course meal the Vodka Luge arrived. The bride and groom went first and then it was open to the guests. The evening party was in full swing as soon as the first song was played. Sarah and Jonathan were the perfect hosts making sure everyone was catered for. They even had spacehoppers lying around for the little ones to enjoy (and some of the bigger ones). Here is a sneak peek at a couple of my favourite shots, the full blog will be posted very soon.

Fitzleroi Barn – Gianna & Terry

We dodged the weather last Saturday at Fitzleroi Barn in Fittleworth, West Sussex for the wedding of Gianna & Terry. It was a humanist service which was very relaxed and enjoyable for the guests as the children all had little jobs to do. Each child had a different colour ribbon which they had to bring up and offer to the Bride & Groom. The ceremony was supposed to take place outside but had to be moved in at the last minute because of the rain. It didn’t spoil the atmosphere though as the staff were so swift and kept things going even though there was a last minute change to inside. Here are a few pics, full blog to follow soon including more shots of these amazing shoes.

Wedding Ideas – Photo Booth

Photo Booths are not new, the retro little booth where we popped some pocket money in a metre and crammed in with our friends have been around for a while. They used to be in department stores such as Woolworths or at the back of the local co-op. Although in decline, they are still about for passport and I.D. photo’s . They have been popping up at weddings now for the past few years.  When I did my training I assisted Photographers who had their own take on the Photo Booth. Not a portable little Booth recycled from Woolworths but their own take on the idea consisting of a simple red curtain and a box of props. I was encouraged to offer this service to my wedding clients but so far had declined. Recently however I was on the other side of the camera and had a chance to experience the sheer fun of this little idea.  I had such a blast dressing up in all kinds of paraphernalia I decided I just had to include this as an optional extra for my own clients. It might not be for everyone and not all venues have the space but if you do fancy this idea I can say from experience that it is a great way to be entertained. You just have to let yourself go and be willing to look completely daft. As the old saying goes “Don’t knock it until you try it”

Street Photography

Using light in Photography is the key to achieving creative and flattering images. Whether its Weddings or Portraits we are always searching for the best use of natural light. This is one of the first things we consider before we even begin to shoot. Its fun sometimes to do something a little bit different. With this in mind we set out with Kelly and Rhianna  for some creative evening street Photography. Starting out, we used the ambient light from surrounding bars and streetlights , as it got darker we switched to flash. The last two images posted here with the ripple effect are straight out of camera. It just goes to show you don’t need Photoshop for this kind of creativity.
