Cambridge Wedding Photography – David & Nicole – Hotel de vin – Howell Photography

We met up for an initial meet with the lovely David and Nicole to chat about their wedding and hit it off straight away. We totally understood that they wanted a very personal and intimate wedding because this is how our own wedding was. We didn’t take the decision lightly when we went off and got married alone and I know that David and Nicole had also agonised over their decision. I totally believe that there is no wrong or right way and that it shouldn’t be taken lightly whatever way you do it big or small. The most important thing is that it should be a plan of what the two of you want. It is your wedding day and it should be your decision as to if you share it with all your friends and family or do it on a small scale. It is also important to have some photos and some kind of celebration. Nicole and David in the end also had their friends along to be witnesses and also David’s lovely lovely son Dan. Such a great guy.

We arrived at the Hotel de vin in central Cambridge on the day of the Wedding where Nicole had a fab make up artist, Tori Harris and some stunning shoes and flowers for us to capture. She also wanted her Mum who is no longer with us to be part of the wedding and we decided together it would be nice to bring along a framed picture of her. I popped down with Doug to see the boys who were having coffee downstairs and quickly realised something was wrong. David was ill. Not nerves or hangover but properly ill. Bless him, bless Nicole as well who was happily getting ready not knowing what was going on. I seriously thought at this point that David may need to cancel. You may think reading this, how unromantic but it wasn’t because David was going to get married no matter what. He made it to the register office and they got married. Nicole was so caring and lovely. We walked to the restaurant where a meal had been booked and took the opportunity to do some street photography. They all looked totally cool and they had chosen such great clothes for their day I was so glad we could get these shots for them. David had to leave half way through and what we had all planned for the afternoon didn’t happen but David and Nicole were married and it was a day to remember and in a funny sort of way really romantic because it was clear that they are going to be so caring to one another as they grow old together and definitely a day that they will talk about for years to come.

Have a wonderful life together and continue to look after one another.

Karen and Doug xx
