Hello, I am Karen and I have been a PROFESSIONAL photographer since 2009. I started out photographing friends children which proved popular. after more advanced training, I went into wedding photography with my lovely husband Doug who is also a PROFESSIONAL photographer. After shooting countless weddings all over the country, I have now gone full circle and am once again loving photographing children and babies. You can read more about our experience and journey on page 6..

Newborn & baby shoots in the comfort of your own home.
I CARRY OUT ALL THE BABY SHOOTS MYSELF AND ALWAYS WANT TO ASSURE PARENTS THAT I DON'T NEED LOTS OF SPACE OR A PERFECT HOME. I KNOW YOU HAVE JUST GIVEN BIRTH. I WILL BRING ALONG EVERYTHING I NEED SUCH AS CLEAN THROWS AND WRAPS. YOUNGER SIBLINGS WILL FEEL RELAXED POTTERING AROUND IN THEIR OWN HOME AND JOINING IN.
MY STYLE IS VERY RELAXED AND NATURAL WHICH MEANS I AM NOT A FAN OF BABIES OVERLY POSED. I WILL ALWAYS CAPTURE A VARIETY OF SHOTS of your baby as well as WITH DIFFERENT FAMILY MEMBERS. I ALSO LIKE TO CAPTURE TINY BABY DETAILS. I AM OFTEN TOLD BY NEW PARENTS THEY STRUGGLE TO GET GOOD SHOTS THEMSELVES. THEY THEN ASK FOR A SHOOT AND QUICKLY HAVE A WHOLE PROFESSIONAL SET TO SHOW TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. IT FILLS ME WITH JOY TO CAPTURE A MOMENT I CAN SEE FROM BEHIND MY CAMERA KNOWING I HAVE CREATED A FAMILY HEIRLOOM. THE PLEASURE IN PARENTS FACES WHEN I DELIVER THE SET IS EXTREMELY HEART WARMING. NEWBORN SHOOTS ARE IDEAL FOR BABIES FROM ONE WEEK TO THREE WEEKS. I DO ALSO Love TO CAPTURE OLDER BABIES WHEN THEY ARE SITTING UP OR HOLDING THIER HEAD UP.

I love capturing and freezing the wonder of childhood and always aim to make the shoot a game or an adventure, sitting still is so over rated don't you think ? i just love the carefree joy that children radiate. I keep it all stress free and fun. The shoot will seem more of a game to them. It is important to me when capturing families or siblings that it is obvious that the group of people on the picture belong together and the love and closeness is reflected in the image. I trained with the amazing children's photographer Annabel Williams who championed this style.
does your family love dancing in the kitchen, a day at the beach or a longer family walk. Perhaps your children like to raid the dressing up box. Whatever they like to do we would love to capture it.

Pricing
The value of your photos is something that increases each year. We all buy or want stuff but that stuff won't mean a lot in twenty years time. As your children grow those fleeting moments captured forever will mean everything. Babies change within weeks. At first they almost look like sweet fragile little birds but pretty soon they are well fed little babies all chubby and smiling. We all love our children and know that they are the most valued before anything else in our life. They become your whole life. Nobody ever regrets paying for a professional photo shoot. If you are hesitant or are worried you may not like the photos or perhaps money is tight you may want to think about my alternative pricing plan. I don't mind which plan you choose as choosing to invest either way in your family heirloooms is heart warming. I GENUINELY want you to have some really wonderful photos to love and pass down.

Why should I have a Portrait
shoot ?
There may not be many opportunities to get your family on a photograph all together as often one of the family will be behind a camera or phone and it's usually the same person. Having a professional portrait shoot will provide you with those fantastic memories and good quality professional images for you to pass down as heirlooms or make fab wall worthy art for the walls. I will work with you on a shoot to get the look you want and then edit them in our editorial style. See more info of how we create an image below ...........
what age is best for a baby shoot ?
Don't wait too long, babies are not babies for long. Some couples want them as soon as possible so that they can send out announcement cards or siblings can help cradle the baby. One to three weeks old is a good age for newborns as they tend to be more sleepy and more settled. Others wait until the baby is able to sit up or are happy to lay on their front and hold up their head. I do offer special rates if you would like all of these different stages captured.
Where do the shoots take place ?
For family shoots, I would advise you choose somewhere you like to go as a family. A woodland walk or beach, somewhere you feel totally relaxed.we can also carry out shoots in your home which we can combine with outside shots to get two different looks. If you have a young baby we can carry out the whole shoot in your home.
Will you pose my baby ?
My style is for very natural shots and therefore won't need to put your baby into various poses. I may gently move the blankets if it is riding up higher or lower than I want for the shots or reveal a tiny toe or hand but I leave the cuddles to you so that I can keep shooting and capture them. Some of the nicest and most natural shots are when babies are in their parents arms.
What planning goes into a Portrait shoot ?
A lot of thought goes into a Portrait shoot. Colours, backgrounds, locations, choices of lenses and settings. I plan first around your brief. Did you want a country style shoot in grasses or a more editorial shoot in an urban area. Are you looking for shots with low golden sun or do you want more of a studio look. As the old saying goes "You don't take a photograph, you make a photograph".
The good news is that you can just give me an idea of what you want to acheive and I will take care of the rest. Not only will I go out of my way to exceed your expectations every time, I will make the shoot easy and stress free.

our story
Hello and welcome.
We are both professional photographers (Karen-Marie and Doug) based in Cambridgeshire and also married. We have been photographing Weddings, Portraits and commercial work since 2009.
It was during her career as a nurse in the operating theatres that Karen went into professional photography. "I knew I was in the wrong job when I was involved as part of the team in a very interesting operation but was more interested in one of the nurses new baby photos. I was always taking photos and had dreamed of becoing a professional for some time " . She entered some of her Portrait work into a competition and won out of hundreds of photographers including professionals. The prize was an advanced year long bespoke Photography course with business training. Absolutely perfect timing ! Although Karen wanted to focus on children's photography, the course introduced her to the idea of shooting weddings and It wasn't hard to persuade Doug to join her. When they started out professionally they hoped someone may just like their work. Their relaxed personalities and easy going photography style meant that It quickly took off. They have now shot countless weddings. "We have met so many wonderful people, genuine lovely couples and families and also along the way, singers, actors, footballers. All kinds of faiths all kinds of personalities. We have had a blast.". In March 2024 they shot their final wedding and Karen has now gone full circle and is once again capturing new babies and families.
Karen is easy going, extremely calm and great with children. She will take the time to find out what her clients want from the shoot and then will help create it. She has a need to be creative every day and loves her garden, practices yoga and also paints. She grew up in Suffolk in an arty family surrounded by brushes in jam jars but also spent five years living in America which influenced not only her photography style but her appreciation of good customer service.
