West Lexham – Norfolk – Wedding Photography – Tom & Carla

I really loved Tom and Carla’s wedding. They decided they didn’t want anything traditional or over the top and chose to do things their way. They requested hardly anything posed just very naturally captured. In fact when I asked for Carla’s group shot lists she replied ” I will leave it up to you, do what you think” and gave us no list. As you can imagine I was extremely intrigued and excited to see what was in store so set off very curious and I wasn’t disappointed. They also unknowingly chose what was the hottest day of the year for their midday outside ceremony. As you can imagine it was extremely hot, challenging, intense heat and light !  We set off on the day to arrive at lunchtime to cover the ceremony to first dance. We were there in record time and although early I couldn’t wait to start work and was very pleased we were able to capture some lovely getting ready and detail shots. The colours were fabulous,  I really loved the mint green and mustard colours together. They had styled the barn which was very similar to a village hall perfectly. It was once again colorful and very relaxed. So the girls got ready and applied their sun screen while swishing in their dresses and the guests sat on hay bales waiting for the wedding party. The ceremony itself was carried out by Tom’s father which was so very personal. After the ceremony the couple had drinks by the pool and it wasn’t long before the children were in with their clothes still on. They started paddling to cool their feet and got deeper and deeper. Most of the guests having arrived the day before had already tried out the pool and I half expected them to race over to to change and end up in the pool. This quite rightly was saved for the next day, this particular day was just for Carla and Tom. They did have speeches which were written so very movingly and while the room was transformed for the evening party we had a few group shots which we kept very relaxed plus a couple of more traditional ones with parents. The girls couldn’t wait to hit the dance floor and when we left the party was just warming up. I know it was going to be a blast and we were half tempted to drop our gear and stay but we were traveling back to Cambridgeshire. West Lexham is a fantastic place to hold a wedding or any kind of celebration. You can hire the place for a few days at a time or even a week and the owners allow you such freedom it was as if you owned the place yourself. There are teepees set up for some serious glamping or you can stay in the cottages. For a larger wedding you can hire a seriously cool marquee.  Everything is aimed at reclamation and natural elements so really for those folk who want their wedding to be a little alternative. As Carla and Tom proved you can have a mix of both and still have the day you wanted and keep parents happy. The extra bonus is that the wedding celebrations which always fly by last for more than a day. How great for them to have such amazing weather as well.

Very best wishes to another wonderful family and to Tom and Carla. I hope you all go back there for future celebrations and make West Lexham the place to celebrate all that will come in the future.
